Hiking - Walking: Around Felixstowe Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: 8 Sea Temperature: Weather: cloudy with showers Max Speed: Distance Covered: 4 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Thursday 18th March - walk *** - Felixstowe circuit – cloudy with
showers.
The poor weather continues, cloudy with showers, with a keen wind from the
north which is always chilly at this time of the year:( After yesterday
when Mag and I only had a brief trip into Felixstowe town centre we hoped
to go further afield today! Leaving home after lunch just as the light rain
started, we headed to Abbey Grove hoping to see some birds but sadly they
were in short supply, mainly very noisy crows nesting high above us when we
reached the Grove and several squirrels too with daffodils and the last of
the snowdrops but the wild garlic is coming along nicely now. We then
skirted the football pitches as I tried to get some pics to send to ITV and
BBC weather, not easy in the gloom but at least the rain had stopped!
Taking the footpath through the houses past Colneis School coming out by
the leisure centre, then down Maybush Lane to the sea at the fludgers.
Along the quiet prom, up through the spa gardens, along the cliff top and
home. Not the most inspiring of walks but at least we covered 4 miles and
enjoyed a cuppa and cake when we got home! The most common bird spotted was
the Robin always singing it head off:)
